Going headless does not mean replatforming. We keep your store's back office for products, stock and orders, and replace only the storefront customers see with a fast custom front end. Shopify moves to Hydrogen, Shopify's own headless framework, or Astro; BigCommerce to Catalyst, its own headless storefront, or Next.js; Magento, WooCommerce, PrestaShop, Medusa JS or commercetools to an Astro or Next.js front end using the store's own interfaces — with product stories and landing pages edited in Sanity.

## What it does

Discovery, architecture, headless storefront build, integration with the existing store back office, go-live testing and monitoring — delivered as a project, as ongoing support, or as a managed service.

## Where it creates value

Speed and a custom experience at the point of sale, without the cost and risk of moving the products, orders and customers the business already runs on.

## Why it cannot be ignored

Headless is worth it only when speed or a custom experience is limiting sales. For most shops under a few thousand products, a well-built standard theme is faster to launch and cheaper to run — we tell you which applies to you.

## What you get

- **Keep your back office** — Products, stock and orders stay where they are; only the storefront changes.
- **Shopify** — Shopify Hydrogen, Astro or Next.js over the Storefront API; Sanity Connect, the official Shopify app, syncs products into Sanity.
- **BigCommerce** — BigCommerce Catalyst, Next.js or Astro over the GraphQL Storefront API; product data joined to Sanity content through the Storefront API.
- **Magento (Adobe Commerce)** — Next.js or Astro over the GraphQL API; product data joined to Sanity content through the GraphQL API.
- **WooCommerce** — Next.js or Astro over the Store API and REST API; product data joined to Sanity content through the REST API.
- **PrestaShop** — Next.js or Astro over the Webservice API; product data joined to Sanity content through the Webservice API.
- **Medusa JS** — Next.js or Astro over the Store API; Medusa's documented Sanity integration syncs products into Sanity.
- **commercetools** — Next.js or Astro over the HTTP and GraphQL APIs; product data joined to Sanity content through the commercetools APIs.
- **Content in Sanity** — Sanity is the content system where product stories, landing pages and editorial are edited, while products, stock and orders stay in the store. It works with every engine above.
- **Project, support or managed service** — A defined-scope build, then ongoing support or a managed service that runs and improves the storefront every month.

## Key concepts

- **Headless** — A storefront built separately from the platform that holds products, stock and orders, connected through the platform's own interfaces. The customer-facing pages can be made faster and more flexible without moving the back office.
- **Composable commerce** — A stack where each part — catalogue, checkout, search, content — is a separate service that can be swapped. It suits businesses that need every part of the stack to change independently.
- **When not to go headless** — A shop whose speed and experience are not limiting its sales. A well-built standard theme is then faster to launch and cheaper to run.
